I have had StateFarm for over three years. I had an accident that was "both parties at fault", meaning both of our insurances would pay for the damages. I chose to pay for the damages to my vehicle out of pocket to prevent my insurance from being raised too much--it was raised over $100; this wasn't a big deal. Then I received a letter 15 months afterwards saying they were dropping me as a customer effective after my expiration. Tom called me to explain that "they could now offer me another policy at a 100% increase in price to $199/mo." After speaking with other people it appears this is common with State Farm. I would absolutely not recommend StateFarm.
While assisting my Mom with her purchase of a new car I called to add her car to her current policy. I asked the lady who answered the phone if she needed to speak with my Mom. Her answer was "Our systems are down" My Mom had to stop what she was doing and speak with the rep who then proceeded to complete the insurance for the new car. She didn't have to lie about the system instead just request to speak with the owner of the policy.
